The Leshan Giant Buddha
Heavy flooding in Southwestern China reached the feet of the Leshan Giant Buddha (樂山大佛) last week for the first time in more than seventy years. The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 1,200-year-old, 233-ft tall, cliff-size carving on the Min River where it meets the Dadu River in Sichuan Province. It normally stands high above the river waters.
