In 2015 after I descended from the Inca Sun Gate to the city of Machu Picchu in Peru, I passed a Chinese family (mom, dad, and early teenage daughter). They were debating whether to spend the one hour hiking up to the Sun Gate. Without breaking stride, I said in Chinese that they should definitely make the climb because the view was incredible (this view). Several paces later, I turned my head back and saw mom, dad, and daughter staring at me, wide-eyed, mouths hanging open. The stories we write as we travel through life. I hope they took my advice.
